After landing hard enough we do a short tour in Kamari us to relax a bit despite the late hour.
The next day we leave by bus from Kamari (where our hotel) and go towards the capital of Fira and Santorini, so to see for the first time the caldera.
Upon arrival at the edge of the caldera we are dazzled by this spectacular site.
We decided to descend directly to the small port of Fira on foot, there are about 600 steps, 260 vertical meters (three solutions descend on foot, with the gondola or horse).
the port, there are a few restaurants, bars and some shops, but the price of shops on the edge of the caldera is much higher than the rest of the island.
After a nice lunch, we ascend on horseback (5 € discussing the rise but we paid 4 €). We laughed a lot during this climb, wavered between the horses on site and canter and gallop on the brink is not very reassuring.
For today we planned to go to Cape Tourlos along the caldera and through the villages of Firostefani Imerovigli and then back to Fira.
On this first day on Santorini, we walked ten miles.
The sun was a little cloudy in the late afternoon, but it was 24 °
For this trip, do not hesitate to get lost in all those stairs (even if sometimes we must make a U turn) because there is always something special to see.
